Growing love for the Comic
One of the things I loved the most as a kid was waking up and asking my father for the Sunday newspaper. It wouldn't want anything thing else other than the comic section in the middle of the page. So being able to read the history and development of "Peanuts" was truly a nostalgic moment! I loved how simple everything was and this was before I knew about panel transitions and proper story telling. Peanuts always had a relatable character, but Charlie Browns thought process for a little boy is always what made the comic that much worth while.
Now with that being said. I read Peanuts when I was growing up, so around seven or eight years old in the 1990's is when I picked it up. What I didn't know was that Newspaper Comic Strips dated back to the early 1900's! Not only is "The Smithsonian Collection of Newspaper Comics" Such a good read on history but it also has some of the greatest illustrations of time and the stories people loved most!! Below is a pick from 1905. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!!
